Took real care with fragile items, then helped put a very old desk back together in a cramped room at the other end. Stuart had no complaints at all.

An awkward job: a collection from someone else, delivered to a remote address that is hard to find. John stayed patient and friendly and kept in touch throughout.

Why New Pal UK

A Southampton Removals Company You Can Check

Anyone can put a phone number on a van. Before you hand over the contents of your home, you should be able to see who you are dealing with.

A registered company you can check

New Pal UK Ltd is registered at Companies House as NEWPAL (UK) LTD, company number 07329683, and has been on the register in England and Wales since 2010.

You speak to the business itself

The number on this site reaches us directly, not a call centre. You deal with the people who will be doing your move.

Local to Southampton

We are based on the Waterside at Hythe, just across Southampton Water from the city, so the streets, bridges and parking zones are familiar ground.

Quotes built on your move

We ask what you are moving and what access is like before we name a price, so the quote fits the job and not a guess at it.

How it works

Your House Move in Four Steps

A removal goes well when the planning is done before the van arrives. This is how we get from your first call to the last box.

  1. Tell us about the move

Call, email or use the form. We need the two addresses, a rough date and what is being moved. A room-by-room list is ideal and photos help.

  2. Get your quote

We work out the vehicle space and the number of people your move needs, then give you one price for the job you described. Ask about packing at this stage if you want it.

  3. Plan the day

Once you have a date we agree arrival time, parking, lift bookings and anything fragile or awkward, so there are no surprises on the doorstep.

  4. Moving day

We load room by room, drive to the new address and carry everything into the rooms you choose. Walk round with us before we leave to check nothing is in the wrong place.

Our work

Our Removal Truck at Work

Packing it yourself? Four habits that help

  • Heavy things in small boxes, light things in big ones. If you cannot lift it, neither can anyone else.
  • Write the destination room on the side of each box, where it can be read in a stack.
  • Stand plates on their edges with paper between them. They travel better upright than flat.
  • Tape the screws and fittings for each piece of furniture to the piece itself, in a labelled bag.

Moving checklist

Planning a House Move in Southampton

Most of the stress on moving day comes from things that could have been done a fortnight earlier. Work through this list and the day itself is mainly carrying.

  1. 6 to 8 weeks before

    • Get in touch for a removals quote, even if your date is not fixed yet.
    • Start clearing the loft, shed and garage. Everything you sell, donate or tip is something you do not pay to move.
  2. 4 weeks before

    • Confirm your moving date with us as soon as you have one.
    • Pack the rooms you use least and label every box with its destination room.
    • Tell your energy, water, broadband and council tax providers, and set up a Royal Mail redirection.
  3. 2 weeks before

    • Sort out parking at both addresses and book the lift if you are in a block.
    • Run down the freezer and use up food from the cupboards.
  4. The week of the move

    • Pack an essentials box: kettle, mugs, chargers, medication, toilet roll, basic tools.
    • Defrost the freezer, disconnect the washing machine and take down curtains and pictures.
    • Keep passports, documents, keys and valuables with you, not in the van.
  5. Moving day

    • Take meter readings and photos of them at both properties.
    • Walk round the old house with us before we leave, and the new one before we go.

Questions

House Removals in Southampton: Your Questions Answered

The things people ask most often before booking a removals company. If yours is not here, get in touch and ask.

How much do house removals in Southampton cost?

It depends on four things: how much there is to move, how far it is going, what access is like at each address and whether you want packing. A one-bedroom flat with a lift is a different job from a four-bedroom house with a loft and a garage, so we do not publish a price list. Tell us what you are moving and where, and we give you one quote for your move.

How far in advance should I book a removals company?

Get in touch as soon as you have a likely date. Fridays, the end of the month, school holidays and the summer are the busiest times for removals in Southampton, and student areas have their own rush when tenancies change over. If you are waiting to exchange contracts, tell us the date you expect and confirm it once it is fixed.

Which areas around Southampton do you cover?

We cover the whole city, including Shirley, Portswood, Bitterne, Woolston and the city centre, plus the Waterside from Totton and Marchwood down to Hythe and Fawley, and towns such as Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford, Hedge End, Romsey and Winchester. We also work west to Bournemouth. The coverage page lists every area. If yours is not on it, ask.

Do you offer a packing service?

Yes. You can have the whole home packed, or only the parts you would rather not do yourself, such as the kitchen, glassware, pictures and mirrors. If you are packing yourself we can supply boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and tape. Ask when you get in touch so it is included in your quote.

Can you store my furniture between moves?

Yes. We work with storage companies in and around Southampton to arrange a secure unit, short or long term. We collect from your home, load the unit and deliver everything to your new address when you are ready for it.

Can you move a single item or a small load?

Yes. Our man and van service covers single pieces of furniture, part loads and small moves that do not need a full house crew. Send the size of the item and a photo if you can, and tell us about stairs or tight corners at either end.

Do you do long-distance removals from Southampton?

Yes. We move people from Southampton to other parts of the UK and into Southampton from elsewhere. Longer moves need a little more planning around loading times and key release, and a large house may be loaded one day and delivered the next.

Do I need to arrange parking for the removal van?

If you have a driveway, keep it clear. If you rely on street parking, check whether your road is in a permit zone and speak to your neighbours in good time. Southampton City Council handles permits and parking restrictions for the city's streets, so contact them if the only space outside is a restricted one. Tell us what the parking is like when you ask for your quote.

How long does a house move take?

A local move for a flat or a small house is usually done within the day. Larger homes, long carries, awkward access and longer distances all add time, and waiting for keys on completion day is often the longest delay of all. We give you a realistic idea of timing once we know what is involved.

Is there anything a removals company will not move?

As a rule, removals companies do not carry hazardous items such as gas bottles, fuel, paint and solvents, and it is sensible to keep cash, jewellery, passports and important documents with you. If you have something unusual, heavy or valuable, mention it when you get in touch and we will tell you what is possible.

Ready to Plan Your Move?

Tell us where you are moving from, where you are going and roughly when. We will come back to you with a quote for your move.
